How You Can Succeed from OK to Extraordinary in Business

Your professional acumen is abounding in commerce. Starting from the mark in your line of work, you were scratched and clawed from knowing nothing for nothing to an expert in your field relevant swiftly.

But, you want to learn more about this calling; to expand your knowledge base not only for your satisfaction but also the potential windfall new clients in the future.

Why can you take from okay to extraordinary in business relatively quickly? Well, here are six examples that may fit the bill to a T:

1. Trade magazines/podcasts on your specific industry
As I always say, you don’t have to invent the wheel when you are trying to branch out in your field. There are numerous trade magazines, articles, journals and podcasts in your arena waiting to discover.

When I was in insurance, I found several different materials including:

to sharpen my expert system and have a leg up on my competition.

Whatever aspect of your industry, dive in.

2. Internal “encyclopedia” in your company – online training, video or audio of your firm 
In the same venue, it is crucial in your business to explore new modus operands and training religiously. This is your lifeline of your company’s strategy and tactics that may be just the ticket to your prospective clients wheelhouse.

When I was working for New York Life Insurance Company, there was thousands of hours of training, motivational testimonials and other groundbreaking techniques that launched me lickety-split. I bet that you can leap in your industry, in a short about of time, too.

3. Mentor in your field
Have you blossomed with an expert in your field that you can learn and nurture your business? Are you afraid or nervous to ask someone that’s been in the business for hundred years and beyond for some guidance?

Believe me, if you ask this individual, usually, the answer will be, “Absolutely!”

I cured a mentor of life insurance about two years and the results were not only very beneficial but, also, we became very good friends. We met every week, early in the morning, for an hour, discussing a range of distinct viewpoints including:

  • marketing
  • prospecting
  • customer service
  • compliance and more.

In this way, this mentor’s approach and perspective on the different subjects with was not only very powerful, but also, very encouraging to me as well.

Think about who you could ask to help your business grow even further by developing a mentoring partnership.

4. Network consistently
In a previous post titled, “5 Examples to Heat Up Your Heart by Networking,” I talked about the “Triangle,” a networking coordination between:

  • referrals (like BNI or Mastermind Group)
  • social (like the Chamber of Commerce)
  • civic organizations (like Kiwanis, Rotary or Lions.)

If you are not involved in at least one connections in all three categories, I urge you to probe this option.

5. Birthday, anniversary, baby… oh yes!
Time-consuming from time to time, to scribe a handwritten card or note for birthdays, anniversaries, new arrivals and more is the best way to have strong relationships and a personal touch in your salesmanship. Like always, if you are diligent in doing this constantly with the step, then the results may be very advantageous.

6. Wake up one hour early
Another offering, yet very ingenious nevertheless, I would arrive in the office every day at 7:00 AM to begin my day. In this way, I could:

  • respond for hundreds of emails quickly
  • effectively to my paperwork in short order
  • return phone calls with no interruption or disturbance
  • organize at the beginning the day and be more productive and spring into action with a full steam

all before the day begins.

Invigorating and refreshing wait if you try this approved.

In conclusion, in any organization, in any individual, change is malleable and alters to whereabouts instantaneously. With some of the measures that I have just described, your opportunity to tweak your business for the better will be fortunate if you desire.
